[ newton faulkner / mama do uh oh, uh oh ]

once upon a time i was really into the radio 1 live lounge albums. i shared them with my sister but had forgotten about them in recent years. about a month ago in less happy times, my sister handed me an external drive with all the albums to date. i’m so glad she did because the most recent album, volume 4, is by far the best and this song in particular, rocked my soul.

[ bloc party / signs ]

i’ve been in the midst of catching up on chuck and have discovered some great music during the process. i think we actually have this album? (maybe?) but have obviously not listened to it at any great depth. bloc party certainly has its gems and sometimes it just takes a great (or even not so great) scene to bring out the shine.

[ local natives / airplanes ]

so i read the beautiful lyrics and wondered who it was about. i found out it was about keyboardist’s grandfather. it made me think about my grandfathers. both of whom are around but halfway across the world. and as such, i’ve never really had a chance to really get to know either of them beyond my toddler years.

for the first three years of my life though, my grandfather on my mother’s side was my best friend. i don’t remember anything concrete from those years, but i know what i felt and still feel. i want you back.
